Corcovado National Park — Sirena Station

The most biologically intense place on Earth. In the heart of it.

Full day Moderate From $180 / person

National Geographic called Corcovado the most biologically intense place on the planet. Sirena Station sits in the absolute center of it.

Getting there is part of the experience. We leave Sierpe by boat — approximately two hours navigating the wetland and then south along the Pacific coast. The journey itself is wildlife-rich: dolphins, seabirds, coastal forest scrolling past at water level. When we arrive at the park boundary and step off the boat, the forest swallows everything.

Sirena is where guests regularly see tapirs — the largest land mammal in Central America — walking the beach at dawn or grazing in the clearings near the research station. All four of Costa Rica’s monkey species live here. Peccaries move through the undergrowth in groups. Coatis, northern tamanduas, and coatis appear on the trails. Scarlet macaws fly overhead in pairs. Toucans call from the high canopy.

We have had guests — some of them experienced travelers who have been on wildlife safaris on three continents — describe Sirena as better than any zoo they have ever visited. The animals are wild, unhurried, and close. That is what primary rainforest looks like when it is truly protected.

We spend approximately 4.5 to 5 hours inside the park. Lunch is included. José guides every step — interpreting not just what you are seeing but how it connects: why the tapir matters to the forest’s seed dispersal, what the behavior of a spider monkey troupe tells you about fruit availability, how the entire ecosystem feeds from the ocean and back again.

Book this tour early. Corcovado has a strict daily visitor limit. Sirena closes in October. We handle all permits and logistics.

Nature is Unpredictable — And That's the Beauty of It

We do not guarantee sightings, and we don’t run scripted tours. The Osa Peninsula is a wild, living ecosystem where every single day behaves differently.

Instead of a checklist, below is a gallery of real moments captured by José during our actual tours. This is a glimpse of what is out there, waiting to surprise us.
